A friend had sudden craving for cheesecake, at 11:00 PM and we embarked on a journey to find late night dessert places in Hitech City. We were on our way to the Concu outlet in 36 drive in, but on the way spotted this cozy little dessert joint. It looked cheerful and all lit up. And that’s how we ended up at Churrolto.
The decor is minimal and ambiance is cozy. It’s a perfect feel-good place and beautifully lit up. As soon as you enter, your eyes will inevitably get drawn towards the display section. I was totally full when we entered but I ended up having three starters, and mind you, I am not a glutton!
The menu isn’t put up on Zomato yet, but I hope very soon they’ll do it. The owners are sweet and they offer you their best on the menu. We just wanted to have a cheesecake and leave but the Banoffee pie and Tiramisu, both looked very tempting. We zeroed on the tiramisu and let me tell you that it was one of the best, that I have ever tasted. They serve it in a jar, so it looks even more tempting. The coffee wasn’t overwhelming but was strong enough, to make it’s presence felt. That’s what I liked best.
The blueberry cheesecake wasn’t the best. I have had better ones. The cheese portion was quite thin and the blueberry layer was too thick. I couldn’t enjoy it wholeheartedly. When we spoke to the owner about it, he told us that they had tried to come up with their version of the cheesecake. It was a blueberry cheesecake on a tart and was not the usual one, which was commendable but just didn’t taste right to me.
Churros stole the show and how! I had never tasted churros before and same was with my husband and friend. But we loved it. We had asked for the chocolate dip, but they served a portion of the espresso dip too (on the house). The espresso one is their specialty and it surely changed the way we looked at coffee till then. The chocolate dip was dark but wasn’t very bitter. They served it with a marshmallow which was new and interesting.
With Concu and Kavanah located in the other part of the city, I am sure Churrolto has a shot of being the ‘best dessert place in hitech city’! But yes, they need to keep changing the menu to keep the interest piqued.
All the best Churrolto. See you soon, very soon!
